### Democrats: All Talk, No Plan as Midterms Loom House Democrats are gearing up to push their “affordability” agenda as midterm elections draw near. Spoiler alert: they’re still figuring out what that means. They’ve gathered in Leesburg, Virginia, for their annual policy retreat, which sounds more like a summer camp for indecisiveness than a serious strategy meeting. House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) made it clear: they need simple solutions. Translation: they’ve got no clue what those solutions are yet, but just trust them to fix everything if they regain power. What’s their big plan? Mostly just reversing everything Trump did. Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), chair of the House Democrats’ campaign arm, is really keen on undoing those pesky new tariffs. Because why not? It’s not like the economy has other pressing issues to deal with. They also want to bring back those Obamacare health insurance subsidies that expired last year and restore cuts to federal safety-net programs made by Republicans. But hold the applause; they haven’t quite figured out what else to offer beyond a blanket “We hate Trump” message. Outside of the usual Trump-bashing, they’re tossing around some old-school ideas like expanding the child tax credit and raising the federal minimum wage. Groundbreaking stuff, really. Meanwhile, the New Democrat Coalition — a group of the more centrist Democrats — is trying to get some attention with their own affordability agenda, which includes addressing broadband connectivity and data center construction. Because, sure, that’ll win over voters. In the Senate, Democrats are starting to realize they might need a clear message to have any hope of flipping the chamber. Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) pointed out that without a solid vision of what they actually want to do, winning elections is going to be a tough sell. Shocking, I know. And just to keep things interesting, former President Bill Clinton is set to testify about Jeffrey Epstein while the nation waits for Democrats to figure out their platform. Good luck with that, guys. So, are Democrats really offering voters anything they can get excited about, or are they just hoping to coast on the anti-Trump wave? It seems like they might be running on empty.
