### Wake Up, Canada: China Isn’t Your Friend Let’s get real here: China is not exactly rolling out the red carpet for democracy, the rule of law, or human rights. This isn’t breaking news, but it seems like some folks up north need a refresher. While Canada fiddles around with diplomatic niceties, the reality is that China plays by its own rules — ones that don’t include any of the nice, fluffy ideals we like to preach. So, what’s the hold-up? Are we waiting for China to suddenly embrace democracy, or are we just pretending everything is fine because it’s more convenient? It’s funny how easy it is to overlook this uncomfortable truth when economic interests are at stake. You know, the whole “let’s make a deal” mindset that glosses over a nation’s blatant disregard for basic human rights. The sooner Canadians wake up to the fact that this isn’t just a friendly game of international chess, the better off everyone will be. Are we really that keen on putting on blinders for the sake of trade? Just a thought: how many more human rights violations will it take before we stop acting like China is just another trading partner?
