### Another Day, Another Boat: U.S. Military Takes Out “Narco-Terrorists”
So, the U.S. military decided to flex its muscles again, this time taking down a boat in the eastern Pacific. Apparently, it was loaded with two guys labeled as “narco-terrorists.” Southcom, our favorite military command, assures us these guys are bad news, linked to a shadowy terrorist group and operating on well-trodden drug routes.
Translation: they shot first, and we’re just supposed to accept that they were the bad guys without asking too many questions. We get it—drugs are bad, and so are terrorists. But can we talk about how convenient it is that the military has a neat little narrative ready to go every time they pull the trigger?
And let’s not overlook the delightful vagueness of “designated terrorist organization.” Because nothing screams accountability like a label that could apply to a wide range of groups, depending on who’s defining it.
So, two guys are dead, and we’re left to wonder what really happened on that boat and if these “narco-terrorists” were as bad as they’re painted. Or maybe they were just unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. But hey, who needs nuance when you’ve got a good headline to sell?
Isn’t it just charming how military operations can be spun into a tidy moral victory?
