### Grand Juries: Trump’s Unlikely Shield Against the Justice Department
So, we’ve got grand juries playing gatekeeper for President Trump, of all people. You’d think these panels, known for their ability to indict just about anything (even a ham sandwich, if you ask the saying), would be all in on the Justice Department’s efforts to take down political opponents. But surprise, surprise, they’re not exactly rolling over this time.
Sure, grand juries have a reputation for being mere rubber stamps for prosecutors. But let’s take a moment and appreciate the irony—now they’re suddenly showing some backbone when it comes to Trump. Maybe they’ve realized that going after a former president isn’t as cut-and-dry as it looks on paper.
What’s missing in all this chatter? A real understanding of why these juries are hesitating. They’re supposed to check the prosecution’s power, not just sign off on whatever the Justice Department decides to throw at Trump. It’s a bit rich to see these grand juries being painted as obstacles now when they’re usually seen as a quick route to charges.
So, are they doing their job or just playing hard to get? Either way, it’s a curious case of selective scrutiny. If only the same level of skepticism applied to other political figures, we might actually have some balance in this circus.
But then again, who needs balance when you can just keep the narrative spinning? Isn’t it all just a little too convenient?
