### Trump Picks New Attorney General, But Will Senate Republicans Play Nice? So, Trump’s tossed Todd Blanche into the ring for the permanent Attorney General gig. Big whoop, right? The White House gave a heads-up to the Senate, just days after Trump casually dropped the news at a fancy dinner in the Rose Garden. Because that’s how serious nominations are made—over hors d’oeuvres and small talk. Now, let’s talk about Blanche’s future. It’s about as clear as mud. Republican senators, still licking their wounds from their latest spat over an “anti-weaponization” fund proposed by the administration, aren’t exactly rolling out the red carpet. Apparently, they’re too busy weighing their options instead of backing Trump’s pick. Take Sen. Thom Tillis, for example. He’s sitting on the Senate Judiciary Committee and has been in Trump’s crosshairs more than once. He’s made it clear that his support hinges on that anti-weaponization fund, so good luck to Blanche in winning him over. One no from a Republican could completely derail the nomination. Then there’s Sen. John Cornyn, also on the same committee, who recently got schooled by a Trump-endorsed candidate in his primary. Now, he’s playing coy, saying his support depends on how well Blanche answers his questions. Because nothing says “trust me” like making a nominee jump through hoops, right? On the flip side, we’ve got Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chair of the Judiciary Committee, who’s waving the pom-poms for Blanche, calling him “well-qualified.” What a relief! After all, he’s just the guy who had to deal with the fallout from former AG Pam Bondi’s spectacular failure to handle the Epstein files. You know, no pressure or anything. So, if Blanche makes it through, he’ll be stepping into some big shoes—ones that were hastily vacated after Bondi couldn’t manage the political hot potatoes. Just another day in Washington where accountability is as fleeting as a good hair day for Trump. Is anyone else tired of this endless game of musical chairs, or is it just me?
