### Headline: “Asylum Seekers: Just Another Political Football” The Supreme Court is having a little chat about whether the government can send asylum seekers packing before they even set foot on American soil. Fun fact: this “metering” practice was a brainchild of the Obama administration. Now, it seems President Trump is itching to bring it back. How nostalgic. So, what’s the deal with metering? It’s simple: border officials would turn away migrants who want to claim asylum, telling them to wait their turn outside the border. Because apparently, waiting in a dangerous limbo is just how we do things now. You have to wonder why this is even up for debate. Isn’t it curious how the same practice gets a standing ovation when one party does it and booed off the stage when the other does? Media folks might want to mention that little detail, but then again, that wouldn’t fit the narrative, would it? And let’s not kid ourselves—this isn’t about protecting borders. It’s about political posturing. Both sides are playing a game of “who can look tougher?” while those actually seeking refuge are left in the lurch. So, as the Supreme Court weighs its options, it’s worth asking: Is anyone actually thinking about the people caught in the middle of this political ping-pong match? Or is it just about who gets to wear the “tough on immigration” badge next?
