### Pam Bondi: Fired But Still Under the Microscope So, Pam Bondi is out as attorney general. But guess what? Congress still wants a word with her. House Oversight Chair James Comer issued a subpoena for her testimony last month regarding the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, and now that she’s been shown the door by Trump, they’re still keen to hear what she has to say. Shocking, right? After her termination, a spokesperson for the committee said they’re still figuring out the next steps for the subpoena. Because apparently, accountability is only a suggestion until they decide it’s time to enforce it. And here’s a fun twist: the push for Bondi’s testimony isn’t just coming from the Democrats. Nope, GOP Rep. Nancy Mace from South Carolina is leading the charge, having voted to subpoena her and even posting a not-so-subtle “FIRED” image of Bondi on social media. Mace claims Bondi mishandled the Epstein files and “seriously undermined President Trump.” So, let’s recap: the GOP is now throwing one of their own under the bus. Meanwhile, Trump called Bondi a “Great American Patriot” in a social media post but gave no reason for her exit. Classic move—good luck trying to connect those dots. The reality is Bondi has become the scapegoat for the Epstein mess that just won’t quit. While Trump claims he had a falling out with Epstein years ago and hasn’t been charged with anything, Democrats are waving the cover-up flag, with Bondi supposedly holding the proverbial bag. Democrats are not holding back, either. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) accused Bondi of using the DOJ to shield Trump while putting survivors at risk. He’s adamant she must appear under oath. And let’s not forget, Bondi’s already been in hot water with congressional Republicans for how she managed the Epstein inquiry. Her shaky appearance before the House Judiciary Committee didn’t help her case either. It’s like watching a game of political hot potato, and she’s the one left holding it. Now, if Bondi does testify, she’ll likely have to pay for her own legal bills—just like other former officials who’ve found themselves in similar hot water. Because why should taxpayers cover the legal costs of someone who’s tangled in this mess? Democrats aren’t exactly feeling sorry for her. Rep. Dave Min (D-Calif.) made it clear Bondi has “repeatedly and flagrantly violated the law.” Sounds like someone’s got a bone to pick. As for Bondi’s previous promises about transparency in the Epstein case? Well, those went up in smoke. After all the noise, the Justice Department decided not to release further materials regarding the investigation, much to the dismay of Trump’s base, who have been dying for an Epstein “client list.” Now, the Oversight Committee is still pressing for accountability, and Bondi is stuck in the crosshairs. She even tried to neutralize the situation by briefing the committee last month, but Democrats walked out, claiming she was dodging the subpoena. So, what’s the takeaway here? Bondi’s firing might have been a quick fix for the administration’s optics, but it hasn’t solved the messy problem of accountability. As Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-Va.) pointed out, “Her removal only increases the urgency for the Oversight Committee to fulfill its oversight obligations.” In the end, it looks like Bondi’s not off the hook just yet. Isn’t it funny how in politics, a pink slip just means more questions?
