### Big Media Swallows More Media: What Could Go Wrong?
So, the FCC and DOJ decided to give a green light to Nexstar Media Group’s takeover of Tegna. Great, another media giant gets bigger. Who needs competition, right?
Nexstar proudly announced that the deal is a done deal, all thanks to the FCC granting them a waiver on some arbitrary rule about market share. Because we all know that when the government gives permission, it’s always in the best interest of the public.
What’s missing here? Oh, just the usual concerns about media consolidation and how it affects your local news. Instead, we get the bureaucratic blessing glossed over like it’s no big deal. And let’s not forget the potential bias that comes with fewer independent voices. But hey, who cares about diverse opinions when we can have one mega-corporation controlling the narrative?
In a world where we’re constantly told that more is better, maybe we should start questioning if we really need another media behemoth. Just a thought.
