### “Cutting Safety Nets to Fund a War? Sounds About Right.”
So, here we go again. Jodey Arrington, the Chair of the House Budget Committee, has decided that the best way to fund a potential war with Iran is to cut spending on programs that actually help people. You know, things like state and social safety nets. Because apparently, preventing fraud in these programs is more important than, say, keeping people afloat.
Arrington is all set to meet with Lindsey Graham, the Senate Budget Committee Chair, to hash out this brilliant plan. Nothing like a cozy chat between two politicians to figure out how to balance the budget by slashing the funds that keep everyday folks from drowning.
It’s almost as if they’re operating under the assumption that the American public has an endless appetite for war, while simultaneously ignoring the very real needs of their constituents.
So, what’s next? Are we going to hear about how cutting aid will somehow make us safer? Because that logic is as clear as mud.
