### “House GOP Tries Again: Can They Get Their Act Together on DHS Funding?” So here we go again. Speaker Mike Johnson is reportedly gearing up to shove a Homeland Security funding bill back onto the House floor for a third attempt. Apparently, the GOP is hoping that pressure tactics will finally convince Democrats to wrap up this five-week government shutdown. Now, let’s break this down. The House has already passed two versions of this bill—both times with a handful of brave Democrats daring to break from the party line. Yet, it’s still stuck in the Senate, where Democrats have decided that funding the Department of Homeland Security is only acceptable if they can slap on some new immigration enforcement restrictions. Because why should we just fund the government without complicating things, right? As if that wasn’t enough, the House is also planning to vote on a resolution next week to show support for DHS workers, including TSA officers who’ve been working without pay. Nice gesture, but it feels a bit like a band-aid on a gushing wound, doesn’t it? So, what’s the endgame here? A funding bill that satisfies everyone? Good luck with that. Meanwhile, travelers are left to wonder if they’ll get through security without a hitch or if they’ll be stuck in line behind more political stunts. Isn’t government fun?
