### House GOP Says No to War Powers: Trump Wins Again, Congress Shrugs
So, House Republicans just tossed aside a bill aimed at limiting U.S. military action in Iran. What a surprise! With a vote tally of 212 to 219, it seems like Congress is more interested in playing follow-the-leader with Trump than actually doing its job. Only two brave souls, Reps. Thomas Massie and Warren Davidson, dared to stand up and say, “Hey, maybe Congress should have a say in war decisions.”
In a world where Congress is supposed to have the power to declare war, it’s astonishing how quickly they’re willing to hand that power over to the President. You’d think they’d at least pretend to engage in the democratic process, but nah, that would require effort. Instead, they’ve opted for the path of least resistance.
It’s almost like they enjoy being sidelined while the executive branch calls the shots.
So, what’s the takeaway here? Congress is happy to collect its paycheck while letting the Pentagon do whatever it wants. Meanwhile, the public is left wondering who’s really in charge. But hey, at least we know that as long as Trump’s in the White House, the status quo is safe and sound. Isn’t democracy grand?
