### House Republicans Won’t Let Pam Bondi Off the Hook
So, House Republicans are still after Pam Bondi for her take on the Justice Department’s handling of Jeffrey Epstein, even though she’s no longer the attorney general. Apparently, they think she has some juicy details to spill, despite the fact that her new job might not involve rubbing elbows with Congress anymore.
The House Oversight Committee has issued a subpoena for Bondi to testify, but guess what? She’s not confirming any date. The Justice Department even chimed in to say, “Hey, she’s not AG anymore, so let’s just skip this whole thing.” Sounds convenient, doesn’t it?
Oversight Chair James Comer is not impressed. He’s got a subpoena out, and he’s not backing down just because Bondi has moved on to greener pastures. Apparently, five Republicans and a few Democrats think it’s absolutely essential for her to answer questions, which begs the question: what do they think she knows?
Then there’s Rep. Nancy Mace, who’s taking the lead on this whole Bondi thing. She’s pushing for her to show up, and if she doesn’t, well, they’re ready to throw around some contempt charges. Because nothing says “we care about justice” like trying to drag a former official into a room against her will.
And while all of this drama unfolds, Todd Blanche, Bondi’s old deputy, is now in charge. Funny how the new boss was right there in the trenches during the Epstein mess, too. But sure, let’s focus on Bondi—she’s apparently the missing link in this whole investigation.
In her farewell message, Bondi mentioned she’s off to a “thrilling” new role that involves continuing to support Trump. It’s almost as if she’s saying, “Thanks for the memories, but I’m outta here.”
So, will she actually testify? Will the Oversight Committee get their wish? Or will this just fizzle out like so many other political dramas? One thing’s for sure: the survivors of Epstein’s crimes deserve more than this endless game of bureaucratic cat and mouse.
