### “Congress Wants to Talk Epstein, But Do They Really Want Answers?”
Rep. James Comer is on a mission—at least that’s what he claims. He’s trying to round up Attorney General Pam Bondi and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick for some good old-fashioned congressional testimony about Jeffrey Epstein, the infamous sex offender. Because, you know, nothing screams accountability like a few high-profile interviews.
Comer, the head honcho of the House Oversight Committee, casually mentioned he’s “in communication” with them. Translation: he’s sending emails and hoping for a prompt reply. Meanwhile, he’s gearing up for a deposition with Epstein’s accountant, Richard Kahn. It’s like a game of legal musical chairs, and everyone’s trying to avoid sitting down next to Epstein’s shadow.
Last week, Comer’s committee decided to subpoena Bondi to make sure she spills the beans about how the Justice Department handled Epstein’s case. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t great. There’s been a lot of chatter about how the DOJ dragged its feet on releasing files and messed up redactions like a kid with a crayon. But hey, who’s keeping track of accountability, right?
Then there’s Lutnick, who apparently felt the heat when lawmakers suggested they might subpoena him too. He finally agreed to chat voluntarily—because nothing says “I have nothing to hide” like waiting until someone threatens you with a subpoena. He’s expected to clarify his relationship with Epstein, especially after confessing he had lunch with the guy despite previously claiming they were done. Sure, that’s a great way to sever ties: just grab a meal.
But here’s the kicker: Lutnick hasn’t been accused of any actual wrongdoing. So, what’s the point of all this? It feels less like a genuine investigation and more like a circus act.
So, as we wait for these testimonies to unfold, one must wonder: are we really going to get any real answers, or just more political theater? Because if history teaches us anything, it’s that the truth often gets lost in translation.
