### Democrats Want to Snatch Trump’s Backyard Seat—Good Luck With That So, here we go again. Democrats are gearing up to take a shot at flipping a Florida state House district that just so happens to include Mar-a-Lago, President Trump’s playground. Because nothing says “we know what the people want” like targeting a district that’s basically a Trump fan club. Emily Gregory, a small business owner (because apparently that’s the new requirement for political candidates), is going head-to-head against Jon Maples, who’s got the Trump stamp of approval. This seat opened up after Mike Caruso, the last Republican to hold it, decided he had better things to do back in August. The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is licking its chops over this race, seeing it as a golden opportunity to wrest control away from Republicans. But let’s call a spade a spade: trying to flip a district that’s been Republican for a while is like trying to convince a cat to take a bath. And let’s not kid ourselves about the motivations here. It’s not just about “representing the people”—it’s about power plays, fundraising, and the next big headline. So, will the Democrats pull it off this time? Or will they end up back where they started, shaking their heads and wondering why they thought this would be different? Just another day in the political circus.
