### Democrats Skip Trump’s Speech for a “More Important” Show
A bunch of House and Senate Democrats are planning to ditch President Trump’s State of the Union address next week. Instead, they’ll be hanging out at some “counter-programming” events near the Capitol, showcasing the supposed havoc wreaked by his policies. Because, clearly, attending a political show-and-tell is way more important than listening to the leader of the free world.
Trump’s big moment is set for February 24, and it’s not like it comes without controversy. The uproar over his immigration policies is a hot topic right now—thanks, in part, to selective media coverage that keeps the outrage boiling. But instead of engaging in the actual political process, these Democrats seem more interested in a PR stunt.
It’s almost like they think their absence will send a strong message. Or maybe they just don’t want to deal with the awkwardness of hearing Trump talk about the very policies they oppose. But hey, who needs to listen when you can just hold a rally and complain instead?
So, why not attend the speech, take notes, and then counter the arguments with actual dialogue? That would be too logical, of course. Instead, we get the usual theater of political performance.
Isn’t it funny how some politicians seem more interested in posturing than in actually governing?
