### House Democrats Get Together to Talk Affordability — And Other Buzzwords So, Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger is set to headline the House Democrats’ annual retreat. Great. Just a day after she gave her party’s response to Trump’s State of the Union, she’ll be sharing wisdom on her victorious campaign in Virginia. Because clearly, that’s what we all need — another politician explaining how to win when most of us can’t even afford our groceries. According to the party’s agenda, they’ll be focusing on “affordability” in areas like housing, utilities, and food. Wow, groundbreaking stuff here. Meanwhile, they’ll be hearing from labor leaders as if they’re not already aware of the struggles working Americans face. But hey, let’s bring in some historians to remind them of America’s 250th birthday. Nothing screams “we understand your struggles” like a history lesson. Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar is all about “Fighting for an Affordable America,” which sounds nice but feels a bit like a slogan without any real substance. This agenda is supposedly going to guide their efforts to regain the majority in the House. Good luck with that. And just in case you thought they were done, they’ve lined up a parade of former Biden administration officials to chime in. Because nothing says “we’re in touch with the people” quite like getting advice from people who used to be in power. So, are we really expecting anything different from this little getaway? Or is it just a fancy way to spin their way through a bunch of meetings while the rest of us are left wondering how to make ends meet?
