So, Rep. Neal Dunn isn’t resigning early after all. A spokesperson just had to clarify that he plans to stick around for the rest of his term. This announcement comes after whispers in the halls of Congress suggested he might bail, which would have put the GOP majority in jeopardy. Because, of course, nothing says “dedicated public servant” quite like a last-minute decision to stay on the job amid health issues and retirement announcements.
Speaker Mike Johnson had to step in and encourage Dunn to hang tight. It’s nice to see House leadership caring so much about their majority, isn’t it? One would think they’d be more concerned about representing the people rather than keeping their seats warm.
