### Government Shutdown: Surprise! We’re Still Paying for Nothing
So the Department of Homeland Security decided to take a little break after Congress couldn’t get its act together and pass a funding bill. Shocking, right?
DHS is responsible for a whopping 3 percent of the U.S. federal budget. You know, just enough to keep the lights on and the coffee flowing. Now, most of their employees are going to have to report to work without getting paid. Isn’t that a fun twist? Welcome to the workforce, folks – where you can work hard and still not get a dime.
And guess what? This shutdown could drag on for weeks. So, we can all sit back and wonder how a significant part of our government can just stop functioning because a few people in Congress couldn’t reach a consensus.
It’s almost like they’re trying to prove that government efficiency is just a pipe dream. But hey, at least we’re not paying for it… oh, wait, we totally are. Isn’t it delightful when your tax dollars go to such a well-oiled machine?
