### Why Is Macron Playing Peacekeeper in the Middle East?
So, French President Emmanuel Macron thinks he’s the answer to the Middle East mess. Over the weekend, he called on leaders in the region to help the U.S. and Iran strike a deal after months of conflict that has, surprise surprise, led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Because nothing says “let’s solve this” like a French guy trying to mediate in a complex situation.
Macron had a chat with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, and a few other regional bigwigs. It’s almost like he believes that a few polite conversations over croissants can fix years of tension and turmoil. But hey, let’s ignore the fact that these leaders have their own agendas and might not be that thrilled about taking advice from a European politician.
What’s missing here? Oh right, any acknowledgment that the U.S. and Iran have been at odds for decades. A few phone calls from Macron won’t magically erase that history. It’s like trying to fix a leaking boat by rearranging the deck chairs.
And here’s a thought: maybe instead of urging others to step up, Macron should focus on what France can do to help. But then again, that wouldn’t get the headlines, would it?
So, is Macron really just playing the hero, or does he have his eye on a bigger prize? It’s hard to say, but it’s clear that the whole situation is a lot messier than he’s letting on.
