### Here We Go Again: Congress Prepares to Hand Over More Money for Endless War So, lawmakers are huddling up behind closed doors, and guess what? They’re expecting President Trump to come knocking for more cash to fund the military operation in Iran. Because, of course, what’s another few hundred billion dollars when you’re already in the hole? During these secret briefings, top officials hinted that they might just ask for a “supplemental military funding request.” Translation: get ready to open your wallets again, folks. Sen. Lindsey Graham was practically salivating, saying, “I think there will be a supplemental coming.” Really, Lindsey? You think? Meanwhile, Sen. Chris Murphy, the top Democrat on the Senate committee that handles Homeland Security funds, described the military operation as feeling like “a multitrillion-dollar, open-ended conflict.” Shocker. When do we ever get a straightforward goal in these situations? The Trump administration is still toying with the idea of ground operations, which feels like the perfect recipe for a “forever war.” Even some lawmakers who usually hate the idea of spending are suddenly warming up to the idea of throwing more money at this conflict. Sen. Ron Johnson admitted, “Everybody always wants money, any excuse, whether they’ll need it or not. My guess: They’ll need it.” Wow, what a revelation—just keep the cash flowing, right? But here’s the kicker: Democrats are going to need a lot more information before they hand over any new funding. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wants to know what the “real goals” are. Good luck with that. We’ve been asking for clarity on military objectives since, well, forever. Sen. Chris Coons is already preparing for the inevitable request, but he’s demanding that Trump’s officials testify in an open hearing. You know, so “the American people can get questions answered.” Because that’s worked out so well in the past. Let’s not forget the Pentagon has already gobbled up more than $150 billion from the last budget. Rep. Rosa DeLauro is rightfully skeptical, saying, “We haven’t got a clue” about how much has already been spent. It’s like giving a toddler a credit card and hoping they’ll come back with change. Senate Majority Leader John Thune insists we’re fine for now, saying we’ve got the resources to conduct operations, but we should still be “paying attention” to any extra needs. What a relief to know that our allies have capabilities too. And just to add a cherry on top, Trump was eyeing a whopping $1.5 trillion military budget for the next fiscal year. Because why not throw money at the military instead of, oh I don’t know, fixing roads or schools? He’s even claiming we have a “virtually unlimited supply” of weapons. So, wars can go on forever if we just keep restocking? Great plan, Mr. President. So, here we are, once again on the brink of more spending for another endless military operation. Isn’t it nice to see that our leaders are committed to “making investments” in war, while the rest of us are left wondering when we’ll get a return on that investment?
