### Trump’s Demands Are Turning GOP Plans into a Circus So, President Trump has decided that the GOP’s top priority should be an expanded version of the SAVE America Act. Because why not throw a wrench into the already chaotic gears of Congress? Apparently, House Republicans were planning to discuss midterms priorities, but now they’re scrambling to fit Trump’s latest wishlist into their agenda. What’s on that wishlist? Oh, just a little sprinkle of culture war. We’re talking limits on mail voting, banning transgender surgeries for minors, and keeping transgender women out of women’s sports. You know, the issues Americans are really losing sleep over. Meanwhile, GOP leaders are scratching their heads, trying to rally support from members who’d rather focus on affordability than dive into the latest installment of “Trump’s Culture Wars.” Let’s not forget, they left the mail voting provision out last time for a reason. It’s like when you skip dessert because you’re already stuffed; they just didn’t want to deal with it. But here we are, with Trump demanding attention on issues that could fracture the party. And while they’re discussing paths forward, Trump isn’t even pretending to care about housing affordability. He’s too busy convincing everyone that the election bill is the only thing Americans are clamoring for. Sure, housing is a disaster, but who needs a roof over their head when you can focus on election integrity? Over in the Senate, things aren’t looking too rosy either. Several Republican senators are pushing back against Trump’s push to limit mail-in ballots, citing their success in their own states. Sen. Thom Tillis boldly stated he doesn’t want the federal government telling him how to vote. Strangely refreshing, right? Then there’s the “talking filibuster” debacle that Trump seems to think is the next big thing. John Thune, the Majority Leader, is trying to manage this internal mess while some Republicans are suggesting they could sneak the SAVE America Act through reconciliation, despite it not really having a budget connection. Clever wordsmiths, indeed. On a side note, today is Election Day for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s seat. Seventeen candidates are on the ballot, including a dozen Republicans. Good luck finding someone to win outright; we may be stuck in this election limbo for a while. In summary, Congress is in a tailspin, and Trump’s demands are making it worse. So, what’s the takeaway here? Maybe Americans care more about their living conditions than the latest culture war sparring match. But don’t expect the GOP to catch on anytime soon.
