### Here We Go Again: Another Politician Decides to Run for Senate
Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows has thrown her hat in the ring for the Senate, because why not? Apparently, she believes she can unify Democrats in Maine during this “difficult time.” What does that even mean? A little vague, don’t you think?
In her grand announcement on X, she claimed she’s here to “fight for working people” and take on a “broken system.” Sounds great, but let’s not forget, she just lost her bid for governor. So, what’s the strategy here? Hop from one losing campaign to another while insisting it’s for the good of the people? Classic.
Bellows was expected to jump in after Graham Platner, her predecessor in the race, suspended his campaign following a sexual assault allegation against him. Platner denied it, of course, but it’s convenient timing for Bellows to step up. It’s like she was just waiting for the perfect moment to swoop in.
Now, she’s not alone; she’s joined by a slew of other former gubernatorial candidates. Apparently, losing the governor’s race isn’t a dealbreaker for this group. Remember her last attempt to dethrone Republican Susan Collins back in 2014? Spoiler alert: she lost then, too. So, what’s changed?
Bellows has made a name for herself by clashing with Trump on election issues, but that’s not exactly a winning ticket in every election. Will voters be swayed by her “progressive” label this time around? Who knows, but it’s going to be entertaining to watch.
So, will this be yet another sad saga of political ambition or can Bellows actually pull something off? Only time will tell, but history isn’t exactly in her favor.
