### Here We Go Again: GOP’s Summer Budget Circus So, here we are, folks. House Budget Chair Jodey Arrington is waving a narrow budget blueprint in front of us, promising that the House GOP will have something shiny to show by the end of July. Because nothing screams “we’re serious” like a party-line policy package nobody really believes will pass. Arrington thinks they can add some “flexibilities” to the budget resolution. Translation: let’s slap on some spending caps and call it a day, all while trying to dodge that pesky filibuster. Genius, right? Meanwhile, Speaker Mike Johnson gathered the usual suspects for a little pow-wow to talk about what they’re calling “Reconciliation 3.0.” Sounds fancy, like the sequel to a movie nobody asked for. The meeting was all about figuring out how to tackle fraud and make everyday goods more affordable. Because, you know, those problems just popped up overnight. But hey, it’s important to note that this new bill will be more focused than last year’s tax cuts, which was basically a buffet of spending. This time, they’re narrowing it down to six or seven committees. Bravo for the effort, I guess. Oh, and they decided to push off a vote on the immigration package until after Memorial Day. Because why rush when you can take an extra break? Arrington claims this won’t mess up his timeline for the reconciliation bill, which sounds like wishful thinking to me. Johnson came out of the meeting all chipper, talking about “putting ideas on the white board” and building consensus. Because clearly, that’s what we need—more meetings and brainstorming sessions while real issues go untouched. So, get ready for another summer of political theater. Will they actually deliver anything meaningful? Or is this just another round of budgetary sleight-of-hand? Stay tuned, folks.
