### “So, What’s the Deal with This White House Correspondents’ Dinner Chaos?” So, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner went sideways, and now House GOP leaders are scrambling like it’s a game of musical chairs. Speaker Mike Johnson, who got the VIP evacuation treatment from the Washington Hilton, is still planning to move forward with a trio of votes this week. You know, just your typical GOP drama over Section 702 extensions, immigration budgets, and the farm bill. No big deal… right? But wait, there’s more! The GOP hard-liners, led by Rep. Chip Roy, are itching to attach some White House ballroom funding to immigration enforcement. Because nothing screams “let’s fix this mess” like turning a tragedy into a bargaining chip. Now, some House Republicans are kicking around the idea of launching a special committee to investigate the shooting. Sources—who apparently need to stay anonymous—are saying that House Oversight, Homeland Security, and Senate Judiciary want to chat with the Secret Service about this little security hiccup. What a shocker, right? Meanwhile, King Charles III is still scheduled to speak to Congress, because why not? And amid all this, Congress members are suddenly concerned about security protocols. Rep. Mike Lawler, who was at the dinner, is calling for “wholesale change” because, you know, a guy could have strolled in and turned the event into a scene from a bad action movie. And let’s not forget Rep. Marlin Stutzman, who was literally discussing how accessible Congress members are when the shots rang out. Talk about a buzzkill. He’s advocating for a White House ballroom to replace the hotel setting, which is apparently the worst idea since… well, a hotel setting for a major event. Then there’s Mark Teixeira, who ducked under his table and immediately thought, “I’m about to star in my own horror movie.” His heart sank, and he was left praying that no one, especially the president, was hurt. Because clearly, the hotel and its surroundings were about as secure as a screen door on a submarine. In other news, Sen. Bernie Sanders is gearing up for a showdown with Chuck Schumer over U.S. arms sales to Israel. Because if there’s one thing we need right now, it’s more infighting among Democrats. And Kevin Warsh is likely on his way to becoming the next Fed chair. Senate Republicans seem ready to push that nomination through, just in time to kick Jerome Powell to the curb. So what’s the takeaway here? Just another week of political chaos, where everyone talks tough about security after the fact, while the same old games play out. Isn’t it comforting to know that while real issues are on the table, our leaders are busy arguing over who gets to hold the purse strings?
