### Senate Passes TSA Funding. ICE and Border Patrol? Not So Much. So, here we are. The Senate, in a rare moment of unity—probably fueled by too much caffeine or a desire to get home before sunrise—decides to fund the TSA and a few other agencies under the Department of Homeland Security. But don’t get too excited; they’ve conveniently left out Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Border Patrol. Why? Well, it seems there was some disagreement over reforms that someone, somewhere thought were necessary. You know, the kind of reforms that are always talked about but never actually happen. It’s like a bad sitcom plot: the characters are constantly bickering over the same issue, but nothing ever changes. This little late-night deal might sound like progress, but let’s be real. It’s just another reminder of how easy it is for lawmakers to kick the can down the road when it comes to real issues. They can agree on funding for airport security—because, of course, we can’t have anyone taking nail clippers on planes—but when it comes to immigration enforcement? Suddenly, everyone has a different opinion. So, while the TSA gets its funding to keep us safe from our own toothpaste, ICE and Border Patrol are left hanging. Makes you wonder: where’s the urgency there? Or maybe it’s just more convenient for everyone involved to ignore the tough stuff.
