### Politicians Play Chicken with DHS Funding Again
So, here we go again. Democratic leaders decided to lay out their wishlist for reform at the Department of Homeland Security in a letter to Republican leaders. Because nothing says “urgent crisis” like sending a letter, right? With the DHS funding set to run dry in less than ten days, you’d think they’d be hustling to get something done instead of playing political chess.
Oh, and let’s not forget the shiny two-week stopgap measure they just passed. It’s like giving someone a Band-Aid when they need a full-on operation. Sure, it temporarily keeps the lights on, but what’s the plan after that? Spoiler alert: it seems like there isn’t one.
In a race against the clock, these lawmakers are doing what they do best—talking a lot while actually accomplishing very little. It’s almost impressive how they can turn a funding crisis into a game of back-and-forth without breaking a sweat.
So, as they scramble for a compromise, one has to wonder: how many more letters will they send before they actually do something?
