She’s saying she got some “assurances” from the White House that the Senate might allow a “standing” or “talking” filibuster. This could pave the way for the SAVE Act, a bill that’s been passed by the House and pushed by conservative hard-liners. Sounds good, right? But Thune wasn’t even part of that conversation with President Trump, which is a bit of a red flag considering how these things usually go.
Many GOP senators are still wary of messing with the 60-vote requirement.
