### NYC’s Racial Equity Plan: Just More Race-Based Favoritism
So, New York City is rolling out a “Racial Equity Plan” under Mayor Zohran Mamdani. In case you didn’t catch that, it means the city is officially putting racial labels on everything and using them to drive over 200 goals in nearly every government agency.
What does that look like? Well, it’s all about funneling hundreds of millions of dollars into contracts for certain racial groups. Because apparently, the best way to achieve equity is to double down on race-based contracting.
This isn’t a new idea; it’s just the same old playbook with a fresh coat of paint. The city has been doing this for ages, but now it’s all dressed up as a “plan.” It’s like giving a dog a new collar and pretending it’s a different dog.
What’s missing from all this talk? Any meaningful discussion about whether this actually solves problems or just stirs the pot further. It’s a classic case of good intentions paving the road to, well, you know the saying.
So here we are, yet again, with another government initiative that prioritizes race over merit. It’s touching, really. Who needs to solve real issues when you can just keep rearranging the deck chairs? What’s next, a plan to fix the subway by assigning seats based on skin color?
