### Trump Wants to Fire a Senate Staffer Over a Ballroom
So, President Trump is back at it, demanding that Senate Republicans give the boot to Elizabeth MacDonough, the Senate parliamentarian. Why? Because she ruled that funding for his swanky White House ballroom can’t be snuck into an immigration enforcement bill. Apparently, having a fancy ballroom is more critical than following Senate rules.
Trump’s not holding back. He’s calling MacDonough a roadblock to his glorious agenda and telling Republicans to “get smart and tough.” It’s almost like he thinks they should just ignore the rules when they don’t suit him. How refreshing!
He even dragged in some old-school insults, claiming she’s been “brutal to Republicans” while playing favorites with the Democrats. Spoiler alert: Obama didn’t actually appoint her. She’s been in the role since 2012, but let’s not let facts get in the way of a good rant.
To add fuel to the fire, MacDonough recently ruled that a $1 billion security funding provision for Trump’s ballroom couldn’t be included in the reconciliation package. Apparently, it needs 60 votes, which is a little inconvenient for a party that was hoping for a simple majority. Oops.
Trump, ever the optimist, thinks the ballroom will be funded by private donations, while his administration is still angling for taxpayer dollars to cover security upgrades. You know, because nothing says “private project” like asking for public funds.
And just to top it all off, during a site tour, Trump insisted that this ballroom is a “gift to the United States of America.” How generous! So, are the donors really footing the bill, or is this just an elaborate way to keep the taxpayer cash flowing?
In the end, it’s hard not to roll your eyes at the whole spectacle. Who knew that the fate of a ballroom would have Senate Republicans so worked up?
