### White House Says “No Thanks” to Bipartisan Talks — Shocking, Right? So, the White House decided to skip out on a Monday meeting with a bipartisan group of senators trying to put an end to the Department of Homeland Security shutdown. Three anonymous sources, because nothing says “trust us” like faceless insiders, revealed this little tidbit. Apparently, there’s hope for some kind of meeting in the future—once Senate Republicans and the White House figure out how to play nice. Meanwhile, the senators are patting themselves on the back for making “progress” on issues like body-worn cameras and training standards. But let’s be real: if they’re still “talking” about masks and use of force standards, we’re in trouble. Oh, and the senators wanted to have a chat with Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, but Democrats ghosted a Saturday meeting offer. Classic move. It’s almost like they’re all playing a game of political chicken, but instead of cars, it’s just our government stuck in neutral. Can we just get these folks to put their phones down and actually engage? Or is that too much to ask?
