### Headline: White House Plays Political Games While DHS Funding Hangs in the Balance The White House is hitting pause on any further funding talks for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) until Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin gets the official nod to lead the agency. Apparently, we’re supposed to believe that waiting for Mullin to be “fully engaged” is the key to moving forward. But really, who are we kidding? Democrats have been pulling a disappearing act on negotiations, previously skipping out on meetings, only to have the White House blow off a bipartisan gathering of senators trying to resolve the DHS funding crisis. It’s almost like they’re playing a game of chicken, but the stakes are a little higher than a parking space. The Senate is set to vote on Mullin’s confirmation just before 8 p.m. on Monday. How convenient. Meanwhile, some Senate Republicans are hoping to have a chat with Trump later that night to brainstorm a plan to fund most of DHS—except for certain parts of ICE, which, by the way, are already funded. Sounds like a real plan, right? Trump, in the meantime, was busy being the anti-crime crusader in Memphis and stopping by Graceland. Priorities, folks. Senate Majority Leader John Thune is out there saying more meetings are on the horizon but can’t seem to share who’s actually involved. Just more vague talking points to keep everyone guessing. So, while the political games continue, we’re left to wonder: Is anyone actually interested in solving this funding mess, or is it all just a show?
