### More Casualties? You Don’t Say.
So, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is out here warning us that casualties in the ongoing U.S. operation against Iran are going to rise. Shocking, right? Seven American service members have already lost their lives, and it seems like Hegseth thinks it’s a good idea to remind us that war tends to come with a body count.
He stated, “The president’s been right to say there will be casualties. Things like this don’t happen without casualties.” Wow, groundbreaking insight there, Pete. It’s almost as if military operations aren’t just a game of chess where no one gets hurt.
Let’s be real here: the casual way officials talk about war casualties is deeply unsettling. They reassure us that it’s all part of the plan, but what’s missing from this neatly packaged statement? How about a real conversation about the human cost of these operations? Or is that too much to ask?
In the end, we’re left with the same old narrative: troops are sent into harm’s way, and we’re told to brace for more bad news. So, how many more lives are we willing to gamble while the talking heads keep spinning their tales?
