### Another Day, Another American Life Lost to Foreign Shenanigans So, the Pentagon finally got around to telling us the name of the fifth American service member who died in a weekend drone attack. Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, a 45-year-old from Indianola, Iowa, was killed by an Iranian drone at a tactical operations center in Kuwait. Nice to see they’re keeping us in the loop, right? It’s almost a relief that they bothered to release the name at all, considering how often we hear nothing about the lives lost in these foreign escapades. You’d think a service member’s death would warrant a little more fanfare, but that’s just not how the military-industrial complex rolls. Let’s get real for a second. The media will likely churn out some heartfelt piece about his life and service, but here’s a thought: why are we still sending troops into harm’s way in these endless conflicts? It’s almost like we keep poking the bear and then act surprised when it bites back. At the end of the day, Maj. O’Brien’s sacrifice is a grim reminder that our military engagements come with real costs—costs that don’t always make the headlines but should definitely make us question what the heck we’re doing overseas. Are we really protecting American interests, or just playing a game that someone else is winning?
