### “Congressional Black Caucus Sticks Up for Jeffries — Because Who Needs Fresh Ideas Anyway?”
The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is throwing its weight behind House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Meanwhile, Sen. Elissa Slotkin is being scolded for daring to suggest Congress needs new leadership. Talk about a warm welcome for the idea of change.
In a social media rant on Friday, the CBC, made up entirely of Democrats, rallied around Jeffries as if he’s the only person who can lead. They didn’t waste time accusing Slotkin of just angling for a better job in 2028, which is a real leap considering there’s still a whole election cycle before that. They also found it convenient to remind everyone that Slotkin voted to confirm several members of Trump’s Cabinet, as if that’s the ultimate sin in the eyes of the party.
The CBC tossed out some pretty colorful language, saying, “House Democrats don’t need a lesson on reading the political moment from someone who handed Donald Trump one of the most corrupt Cabinets in American history.” So, apparently, if you once agreed with Trump on anything, your opinions now hold about as much weight as a lead balloon.
And just to make sure everyone knows how serious they are, the CBC wrapped things up by claiming they’re all about helping Americans instead of engaging in petty squabbles. Because nothing says “we’re focused on unity” like publicly shaming a fellow party member for wanting to shake things up.
Slotkin’s team didn’t have much to say in response, which is probably a good strategy when the opposition is busy playing the blame game. But isn’t it ironic how the very people who shout for unity are the first to pull out the knives when someone suggests they might be stuck in the past?
So, what’s the takeaway here? It seems that the CBC prefers to keep the status quo cozy rather than risk a little discomfort over new ideas. Is it really unity they’re after, or just a firm grip on the existing power structure?
