### Democrats Divided: Progressives vs. Party Leaders on Lebanon
So, here’s the scoop: House Democrats are once again showcasing their talent for infighting. A resolution to limit Trump’s military options in Lebanon, brought forth by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, went down in flames. The vote was 91 to 324. Ouch.
Tlaib’s resolution aimed to pull U.S. troops out of Lebanon within a week. But apparently, House leaders like Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, and Pete Aguilar weren’t feeling it. Their rationale? There are no U.S. troops in combat there right now. Because, you know, why intervene when there’s no immediate crisis?
They claimed they’d work with Tlaib on new legislation to keep troops out of Lebanon, while also expressing their support for the Lebanese people. How noble. They’re totally against the Trump administration dragging the U.S. into another war. But isn’t that easy to say when there’s no immediate threat?
Meanwhile, the Republicans were busy calling Tlaib a terrorist sympathizer, because apparently, that’s the go-to move when you disagree with someone. And when tensions flared during the debate, one Republican’s comment was so spicy it got struck from the record. Classy.
So, what’s missing here? A coherent strategy? A sense of urgency? Or just plain common sense? It’s a circus, but hey, at least the popcorn is free.
