**Headline:** So Now Khamenei’s the Negotiator? What’s Next, a Peace Summit with the Tooth Fairy? Secretary of State Marco Rubio decided to enlighten us on the “increasingly engaging” role of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, in U.S.-Iran negotiations. Because who wouldn’t trust a guy who’s been hiding in the shadows? Rubio suggests Khamenei is stepping up, but let’s not forget that this is the same leader whose public appearances are about as common as a unicorn sighting. Apparently, the thought of Khamenei getting too cozy in the spotlight makes him a little skittish. Can you blame him? With a track record of leaders in that regime meeting unfortunate ends, it’s probably wise to stay out of the limelight. But here’s the kicker. We’re supposed to believe that behind the scenes, he’s willing to negotiate peace as if all the danger disappears when the cameras aren’t rolling. Sure, buddy. What’s next? Are we going to find out he’s also negotiating a friendly game of chess with the West? Let’s be real; this sounds less like diplomacy and more like a game of hide and seek where only one side is actually looking. When did we start taking “increasingly engaging” at face value? If anything, it sounds like a cover-up for a lack of actual progress. Is anyone asking if this is just a convenient narrative? Or are we all just supposed to nod along and believe the spin?
