### NASA’s Moon Drones: Because Why Not? So, NASA’s decided that sending a few drones to the moon is a great idea. You know, just in case we need to set up a permanent moon colony. Because nothing screams “future” like a bunch of robots buzzing around a barren rock. Enter Firefly Aerospace, led by CEO Jason Kim, who just scored a sweet $75 million contract to deliver four of these lunar drones. That’s a nice payday for helping NASA play space Uber. But let’s pause for a moment and think: what exactly are these drones going to do? Map the moon? Take pretty pictures? Or are they just there to make it look like we’re actually doing something productive? While Kim is all smiles about the contract, it’s worth asking what the end game really is here. Permanent human presence on the moon? Sure, but what’s the plan? Are we going to open a space Starbucks next? It’s all very shiny and exciting until you realize it’s just another layer of bureaucratic spending. And don’t forget, this is NASA we’re talking about. Remember their last big idea? The Space Shuttle program? Yeah, that turned out splendidly. So here’s the kicker: we’re throwing money at moon drones like it’s going out of style, but are we actually solving any problems here on Earth? Or are we just distracting ourselves with shiny toys in the sky? Maybe we should figure out how to keep our feet on the ground before we start building our lunar vacation homes. Just a thought.
