### Trump’s Revenge Tour: More Drama Than a Soap Opera
So, Trump is at it again, tossing out Republicans who don’t kiss the ring hard enough. You’d think loyalty was a rare commodity in politics, but here we are.
Two House Republicans have already felt his wrath, and it seems like he’s got a growing hit list for anyone who dares deviate from his script. The whispers suggest he’s eyeing some GOP senators for 2028, including the likes of Lisa Murkowski and Rand Paul. Because why not keep the fear alive?
This whole “revenge tour” thing really picked up steam when he endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton against John Cornyn. Cornyn, who went out of his way to make Trump happy after initially dragging his feet, just learned the hard way that Trump’s approval isn’t a forever thing. Funny how loyalty works in the Trump Playbook.
Now, some GOP lawmakers are sweating bullets, wondering if they should just hang up their political boots rather than risk a nasty primary challenge from the big man himself. “Do they think about retiring?” muses a Republican senator, clearly channeling some serious anxiety about job security.
But hold on. Others think it’s way too early to sound the alarm. After all, if Trump’s attempts to purge the establishment backfire in the midterms, he might not be the kingmaker he thinks he is.
Sen. Thom Tillis, who’s leaving the party scene soon, points out that Trump’s weight in 2028 might not be what it once was, especially if the GOP faces setbacks in 2026. Maybe these senators should just be themselves? What a radical idea.
Trump’s vendetta doesn’t even seem consistent. Some of the very lawmakers who’ve questioned him since 2015 are still breathing easy. Susan Collins, who voted to convict him during impeachment, is still hanging on, and Trump’s even supporting some of his previous foes like Mike Rounds.
Sure, he hasn’t made any formal endorsements for 2028 yet—why rush when you can keep everyone on their toes? But he’s already throwing shade at Republicans like Lauren Boebert and Brian Fitzpatrick, just to remind them who’s boss.
Looking ahead, the 2028 Senate primaries promise to be a battlefield. Murkowski, Paul, and Todd Young—Trump’s favorites for a tongue-lashing—better be prepared. Remember when they voted on a resolution to limit military action against Venezuela? Yeah, Trump didn’t forget.
And speaking of Murkowski, she’s the lone GOP senator up for reelection in 2028 who dared to convict Trump of inciting an insurrection. Spoiler alert: Trump has not been shy about his feelings toward her, calling her a “terrible senator.”
As for Young, he’s playing nice now, but who knows how long that will last? He’s already got potential challengers circling like vultures, and with Trump’s backing for other candidates, it’s anyone’s guess how that will shake out.
So, as we look forward to the political circus of 2028, one can’t help but wonder: Is loyalty in politics just a fleeting trend, or will these Republicans realize it’s safer to keep their heads down and hope for the best?
